Choose a Webcam (2025 Buyer's Guide)

What Matters Most

  1. Sensor + lens → sharpness and low-light performance
  2. Autofocus → stays sharp when you move
  3. Field of view → 78–90° works for most desks
  4. Low-light behavior → less noise, fewer exposure swings
  5. Mounting → monitor clip + 1/4" tripod thread

4K vs 1080p

4K is great for local recording; many call apps compress heavily. If your upload speed is limited, 1080p is the sweet spot.

Mic & Software

  • Dual mics help, but a simple USB mic or headset wins for voice
  • Good apps let you control exposure/WB/zoom/crop; avoid drivers that fight browsers

Tip: Test new hardware here before an important meeting.
